4. The Command words Describe – Giving a detailed account of something
A hockey pitch is made of Astroturf. It is split into 4 quarters and has a shooting circle at each end of the pitch. On the edge of each circle there is a goal situated on the back line.

Explain: Giving a reason in order to justify an action
e.g. When playing volleyball I always use an over arm action when it is my turn to serve. The reason I do this is because it generates more power which makes it harder for the opposition to return. When I use this serve they often make an error which allows my team to win the point.

Evaluate: When you evaluate something, you're making a judgment, one that most likely results from some degree of analysis.
e.g. I felt that using my school planner was effective at the beginning of the year. I was consistently using it in every class, which meant I was completing homework on time. Unfortunately, I then stopped using my planner because I kept forgetting to bring it into school. This meant I was less organised and kept missing deadlines or forgetting about tests.

Working with a partner: Describe, in detail what Andy Murray is wearing.

8. Description
Andy is wearing a white short sleeved T-Shirt with a red collar. There is a black stripe running down the sides of the T-Shirt and a blue “union jack” square in the middle.
He has navy blue shorts (Knee length) with a white adidas symbol.
Andy is wearing sweat bands on both of his wrists. They are union jack patterned in white, navy blue and light blue.
He has black and red patterned adidas tennis shoes and white socks.

Working with a partner: Explain, in detail why Andy Murray is wearing this clothing.

10. Explanation
Andy is wearing a loose/lightweight T-shirt because it gives him more freedom of movement when hitting the ball. This means he can generate more power in his shots by taking a longer backswing and follow through.
Andy is wearing tennis shoes because they have dimples on the sole which give him more grip when moving around the court. This means he can change direction quickly and move side to side with ease. Therefore, Andy can get into position early to play the next shot or get to his opponents attacking shot.
Andy is wearing a sweat band so that he can rub the sweat off his forehead and face. Subsequently, the sweat wont go into his eyes and he will always have a clear view of the ball.
