Crimes of Youth Born March 15, 1738 Hometown: Milan, Italy Father was an aristocrat from the Austrian Habsburg Empire. 3 Main Beliefs A government should work on preventing crime and not focus too much on punishment Believed it wasn’t necessary or appropriate for a country to take the life of any of it’s citizens. Beccaria was against cruel punishment and believed that a punishment should fit it’s crime. RIGHTS OF HUMANITY!

4 The essay was about ways to reform the criminal justice
Cesare Bookaria Beccaria’s most memorable work was called "On Crimes and Punishments" and was published in the year 1764. The essay was about ways to reform the criminal justice system such as stopping torture in prison and the death penalty. His essay influenced the Constitution, Bill of Rights, and justice system. Beccaria did not work on this alone. He had help from his friends who were experienced in the justice system.

5 Influences and Legacies
To Death and Beyond Influences and Legacies Beccaria’s fell into a sudden silence during the last periods of his life. This caused lots of rumors and conversations. People were confused on whether or not the British government had silenced him. The truth was that Beccaria had grown silent on his own in the last periods of time in his life ,even though he had actually died during this period of silence. The criminologist had been depressed. He had avoided his friends and family. He isolated himself from the world. During that time, he died on November 28, 1794, in his birthplace of Milan, Italy. Beccaria’s influence during his time on Earth caused the shaping of the rights that had found their way into U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Beccaria’s beliefs and speculations in his writing "On Crimes and Punishments," are still a great influence in the current day. He also was an influence for the founding fathers.

6 Quotes “For every crime that comes before him, a judge is required to complete a perfect syllogism in which the major premise must be the general law; the minor, the action that conforms or does not conform to the law; and the conclusion, acquittal or punishment. If the judge were constrained, or if he desired to frame even a single additional syllogism, the door would thereby be opened to uncertainty.” “The punishment of death is the war of a nation against a citizen whose destruction it judges to be necessary or useful.” .

7 Beccaria is Stoned A statue of Beccaria was sculpted in It is currently located in Milan. He was also victim to mood swings.

8 In My Best Dress, Fearless
There is a dress shop named after him. It was founded by Luisa Beccaria, one of his descendants. All three of these maxi dresses are different, obviously. On the left, we see an asymmetrical hem line with floral flounces. We can also see that this is a straight lockstitch because of the lining. Although it is machine stitched, its lavender glow is enough to captivate most audiences. In the middle, we have a wide v-necked dress with puffed sleeves. There is a natural waistline that divides the top and the skirt. The skirt is a mixture of both an a-line and a ballgown. Although we cannot see any stitches, we can see that this is a layered dress. On the right, we have what the most bohemian dress of the bunch. I do not like this dress. Look at the blotchy patches of pure waste. It is unbelievably unsettling. It drills into the depths of your soul and rips any form of happiness out. Ew.
