7 6 Using Microsoft Word (Tips & Tricks). Word processing for academic work: Be organised (file documents in folders). Save your work regularly. Don’t leave references until the assignment is finished. Make more than 1 copy of the document (at least 2). Proof reading – get someone else to read it. Spelling, Punctuation & Granma Grammar.

8 7 University requirements for assignments ‘All submitted assessments should be typed/word processed wherever possible’. The work should be presented firmly stapled with the appropriate academic face sheet attached ‘Pages should be numbered consecutively’. ‘Headings can be used where they contribute to clarity for the reader’. ‘Only one side of the page should be used’. The candidate number should be on every page. Use of graphics not related should be avoided. Double spacing should be used between paragraphs. Use a font type & size which is easy to read Times New Roman or Arial (12) ‘In some cases 1.5 spacing between lines will enhance readability’ - Not a requirement. Include: A table of content page. A Reference list. A bibliography (if you wish). A word count. Don’t : Include your name. Be late submitting it. Go more that 10% over the word limit.

Student Self Directed Work Create a folder called ‘My Work’ on your networked area (if you don’t know how to do this you need to find out by using help). Work through the ‘Word 2000’ workbook. Homework is to send me an e-mail with a word document attached containing: A formatted table containing at least 5 questions & answers about using computers. A header and a footer. The Drawings from page 7 of the workbook. Homework deadline is 14 days from date of session
