Launching Microsoft Word To launch Microsoft Word click start. Put the mouse over Programs, then Microsoft Office XP, then click Microsoft Word. This will open Word to a new, blank document.
In the upper left corner you will notice the document title. Below that is the Standard toolbar. This is used to perform basic functions in Word. Below the toolbar is the blank document. This is where you insert text.
How to use the Spelling Checker. To use the Spelling checker, click Tools, then Spelling and Grammar. This will start the Spelling and Grammar wizard. Follow the wizard and click Change if you find a misspelled word.
How to change the font. To change the font in a Word document, first you have to highlight the word or words that you want to change. To do this, place the mouse over the Words and click and drag over the words. Once the words are highlighted, go to the Standard Toolbar, click where it says New Times Roman. Click on the down pointing arrow and click the font you wish to use.
To add Clip Art to a document. To add Clip Art to a document click Insert, Picture, then Clip Art. Next a dialog box will appear to search for Clip Art. Click Ok. Browse to the Art you want to insert and click OK.
