5 Section 1 Edge Hill Online and Email Section 1 Edge Hill Online www.edgehill.ac.uk and Email This is a secure student portal that provides password controlled access to your University email account and resources. read your emails regularly All important Edge Hill University Library Services information such as overdue books is sent to you via your email account – it is important that you read your emails regularly Click to move on 5

7 To enter the Edge Hill University Website You will need to type the website address into Internet Explorer www.edgehill.ac.uk 7 Click to move on

9 9 Type in your username which is your student number Example : 20111011 Now type in your password, this can be found on your letter. You will be prompted to change this password to one of your own choosing, please keep it secure. Now Click Login Click to move on Should you ever forget your password you can follow some easy steps to reset it yourself by clicking on Reset your password, the following screen will take you through this procedure.

10 Notes on How to Reset Your Password 10 Click to move on Providing you have supplied us with an alternative email address when you first logged into the Edge Hill Website, and should you forget your password at any stage, particularly over the weekend, then you can use the Reset Your Password facility by entering your username – which is your student number, click the reset password button and a new password will be sent to your alternative email address. If you are still experiencing difficulties then please contact the Helpdesk on 01695 584286

We do, via the Library Catalogue have a wealth of electronic copies of books, journals, newspapers and databases of collections of materials to help with your studies, these can be accessed via the Library Catalogue Library Catalogue. 25 Searching 1.On the search screen, you can choose to search by Title or Author, or by Word if you just want to explore a topic. 2.You can limit your search to items that are available online – so if you’re working on an assignment at 3 a.m. in the morning, choose Electronic Library from the menu on the right of the search box, and then you’ll be able to access everything you find from your computer. 3.Finally, log in to the My Account feature and this will let you see if you have borrowed any books. 4.And once you’ve logged in to My Account you can access all our electronic resources without having to log into each one of them separately. 25 Click to move on

30 Section 3 Blackboard and InfoZone Blackboard is a Virtual Learning Environment Blackboard is a Virtual Learning Environment and is just one of the ways that your tutor may choose to support your learning, or to provide you with learning opportunities. If your programme of study requires that you use Blackboard you will be given further guidance from your tutors. InfoZone InfoZone is your online induction through Blackboard and contains lots of useful information about accessing the many different resources and information available as well as support. 30 Click to move on

39 Section 4 Using Files via the GO portal The Files area of the GO portal is where you can access files on the ‘M’ Drive and this will be where your tutors can put files of information and resources for you to access and use. 51 Unicard 1.As a member of Edge Hill University you are entitled to a Unicard. 2.You will need a Unicard if you want to apply for Sconul Access ( it allows you access to over 170 University Institutions across the country ) or if you want to take any books or items out at Ormskirk, Aintree or Woodlands. 3.To get an Edge Hill Unicard (for those students who have not attended an Induction at Edge Hill) please send us a passport sized photograph.
