1 Summary of Student Comments Through the First Three Weeks

2 Comments Observational data is not always correct, and there are certain requirements that the observed data meet in order to retain any validity The progression of science as an independent school of thought is very slow, and has not yet diverged itself from society

3 Religion tries to attach causality between morality of humans and destruction or prosperity of humanity, and this preconception held back true scientific thought for ages Humans are compelled to put structure on things and this can be reflected not only in science but within society with laws, government, and culture.

4 Science requires theories to be verified or discredited though observation and experimentation Cultural norms effect scientific conclusions Given two theories, science will almost invariably choose the one that preserves the "phenomena" There is a direct connection between prosperity, trade and liberal society and scientific progress Scientific thought proposed that actions were a result of a cause-and-effect relationship independent of "higher" powers.
