3. 11/19/042 Overview It will explain how Information Technology is used in sports. It gives the advantages of using this technology. Explains how it is used in the School of Business and why it helps both teachers and students.

4. 3 The problem with money Money has been a huge problem. This is what helps sports teams get what they need like a nice stadium and players that will help the team and hopefully get them to win. The drawback of this is the amount of money the team is willing to spend. Sabermetrics is an analysis software, which calculates each players batting and pitching performance. By looking at each player’s stats, this program was able to construct a successful team with a very low payroll. This is very helpful for each team because it will make all the right choices needed with spending the least amount of money possible.

5. 11/19/044 Technology will help you Nowadays, computers can do everything for us while we just sit back and watch. If it were not for technology, statistics in a ball game would have to be done all by hand where as now it is all done automatically on the computer. Sabermetrics is very helpful with this as well by figuring out the batting order of the players. Some of the factors in this program are the number of times the batter gets on base, whether it is from a walk, hit, or a run and the power of each hit, whether it is a single or a home run. The whole reason behind this is to find out what the batter usually does and if it is helpful for the team to score a run. Another advantage of this is getting the statistics of minor league players and seeing if they will be able to make it to the major league.

6. 11/19/045 ScoutAdvisor A player’s outstanding performance in something can catch a managers eye and will give that player a good chance of being hired for the team. ScoutAdvisor is a software package from a company in Tampa Bay, Florida called E Solutions. This program keeps track of the players talent from the minor leagues to the major league. The system is housed in Tampa because this is where the computers there store raw data on all players with records from high school and college, family background, and psychological profiles and medical histories all from a large amount of sources, and it is also the location of teams spring training. Their sources include Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau, SportsTicker Enterprises and STATS Inc. It program also contains modules made for amateur scouting, pro scouting, international scouting, medical injury tracking, major league player transaction reporting as well as many others.

7. 11/19/046 Human Resource One of the important aspects of baseball is to recruit their players, and to know whom to recruit. Software such as ScoutAdvisor and SaberMetrics help with this situation. The outcomes they produce helps the teams figure out who they need and who they can get rid of. To do this, you need to spend even more money on making a transaction, requiring an administrator, as well as maintenance with business goals and making sure everyone is happy. Companies such as PeopleSoft Inc. and Oracle Corp. have made systems that have reduced the cost of human resourcing for other companies. They are called the human capital management system, which can manage the payroll and benefits to recruiting and staff deployment.

8. 11/19/047 Technologies help in sports Getting statistics has never been easier with these new technologies. It can all be done by entering a simple set of data and pushing a button. Everything is now done electronically rather than by hand. Other things such as cameras and screens and displays on the field are a lot better now. The way of teams finding players and players finding teams is a lot easier now. Tracking down these people and what their preference are and their contributions to the team is easier.

9. 11/19/048 My goals for the School of Business My goals for the school of business is to be able to perform all my work successfully. This would mean taking a lot of time in my work, and using all my tools and resources as much needed. Information Technology will help me in this area. Wireless internet allows me to do research and look up anything I will need for a class. E-mail and laptops allow for instant communication and portable communication.

10. 11/19/049 IT as competitive advantage for School of Business Information Technology can make every student and teachers life a lot easier. No more paper is needed, internet can be wireless, and communication can be done from anywhere. Because of computers, there is no need for paper and pens in classrooms anymore. Everything can be written on Microsoft Word, and after a lot of practice, typing is a lot faster than writing with a pen or pencil. In addition, many teachers put their notes up in blackboard, which is on the internet. This is helpful because the student can look at these notes from anywhere on, and even off campus. Grades of each class can be checked online, and it gives a percentage on there. In the past papers and test would just be handed back and the student would not know how much it was worth. This way makes it a lot easier because the student is able to tell all the information right away.
