Measure wind speeds at altitudes Changes in speeds Future power generation Optimal altitude for efficient generation Mission Overview

DESIGN Length 30 cm, Width 15 cm, Height 10 cm (only difference from proposal structure)

Heater, Camera, Hobo. Magnet attached to rotating disk worked with the sensor. Bike computer logged data wirelessly from the sensor. DESIGN Cont.

Failure Analysis

Anamometer snapped upon impact (as expected). The memory component of the bike computer malfunctioned. Most likely cause was long exposure to cold. Bike computer was still working properly after all cold tests. We have tried to log data again and nothing was recorded. We have tried several attempts to get data and have even updated the software. Only way to fix this would be to buy another bike computer and add more heaters.

Conclusion Flight failed Tried retesting=fail Anemometer broke at impact Bike computer should record data up until burst or the wind stream Things we should have done o Stronger anemometer-the sticks broke o better team work o more bike computer tests

Appendix

Lessons Learned More rigorous testing Meeting agendas to reduce wasted time Backup data storage device

Ready to fly again o New batteries o Additional/stronger heater o Anemometer shaft material overhaul o Transparent screen to confirm functionality o Completely external switches o Fixed/new data storage device/comp

Requirement Compliance Weight: 760 g, 90 below max Tests: completed Foam core structure: yes Required Hardware: HOBO, camera, heater, tube for flight string Sturdy structure to survive flight: yes (confirmed by testing ) Condensation prevention: Silica gels Science experiment: anemometer

Budget Summary Mass Summary: o $224.70 Used o $25.30 Left Weight Summary: o Final Weight= 760g o 105g given away o Over-budget 15g

Message To Next Semester Do not slack Be a good team member o Speak Up! o Do the work. Test all of your Sat components many times. The deadline will kill you.
