SHEPHERDS’ HELPERS Providing fund raising help to non-profit agencies who have heeded His charge “Feed my sheep. Tend my flock”

Who we are Shepherds’ Helpers is a group of dedicated men and women who have come together to help non- profit service organizations raise additional program funds. Our backgrounds include direct mail; grant writing, graphic arts, planned giving, newsletter preparation and public relations. We have over 10 decades of combined services to non-profit organizations, large and small.

Whom do we serve While each agency and every program is different, there are common threads, especially among those serving the hungry, the homeless and those less fortunate in our midst. These are the agencies we seek to help. These are the agencies providing a needed service in their communities and who are often facing a growing need for their programs. These are the agencies who have a need for increased program funding - - and whose staff and volunteers have neither the time nor the expertise to develop additional fund raising resources.

What we provide We primarily focus on direct mail fund raising appeals and newsletters. We assist organizations in five ways. First, in concert with organization leadership, we develop a year round (with specific dates) calendar of fund raising appeals.

These are tailored to three audiences: A.Donors who have helped in the past; B.Potential donors who know about your programs or have been identified as potential supporters, but have not been asked; C.Service clubs, businesses and foundations serving your area.

Second, we do the actual work. We order the envelopes and letterhead, supervise the addressing and personalization, insert the finished letters, seal, affix postage and deliver to your local post office. Third, we work with you to develop Spring and Fall newsletters to help tell your story to current contributors, and also to potential supporters as well.

Fourth, if you do not already have such a program, we will work with you to develop a memorial program and a basic Planned Giving program. Fifth, we can assist in updating your donor file, and can prepare the thank you letters and receipts following each mailing.

How this program raises money Our basic direct mail fund raising program includes a pre-Easter appeal, a Christmas in July appeal, a November appeal and an optional late December thank you and soft request for an additional year end gift. All mailings can be personalized to either individuals, local businesses, or both.

Newsletters are recommended for March and October to help reinforce your image and program needs prior to the April and November mailings. And, a major plus is that we do all the work in our office, not yours - - leaving your staff and volunteers free to concentrate on your programs and services.

All we ask is that you open the returns, deposit the contributions, and make certain your file is updated with these returns. (We can also do this for you and send out the thank you letters if you do not have the resources to do so in house.)

What do all these services cost Very little! Based on the mailing program you have chosen, we ask your support with a very modest monthly fee. In addition, you will be billed at cost for envelopes, letters, postage, etc., and because we order in bulk, probably at less than you have been paying.

And, there is no long-term commitment. You are free to terminate the program at any time by just giving 30 days notice in writing. Our goal is simply to help you meet the challenge of “Feeding His Sheep - - Tending His Flock”.

Want to know more? Call our toll-free number (1-800-782-6756). We will be happy to answer any questions you may have, and to explore how we might be of service.
