The Energy Efficiency Project Due Tuesday, May 26th

Purpose Students will apply their knowledge about energy use to make recommendations to their parents about ways to save energy and money in their home.

Product Students will create a “Poster” to present… Key information on a household feature Statistics on the feature Recommendations regarding energy efficiency Pictures and diagrams to illustrate the content

Work You can work individually or in groups up to 3 students. Design a poster board and present it. Counts as Science, Research and Writing grades.

Also include… Pictures, drawings and tables – Explanation of them – Use materials to make a point and to show importance References – Include sources of information used – Must have at least 3 references – You could start by using your science book

Energy Efficiency Project: Rubric Aspects About the Topic selectedScore Information: “energy efficiency” definition; description of feature selected; use at home; importance; cost; amount of energy it uses; how long it lasts. 4 Statistics: average amount of energy used in feature at home monthly/yearly; amount of money spent on it monthly and yearly; 4 Recommendations and Impact: at least 3 changes that can be made when using the feature to save energy and money; amount of savings in energy and money if those changes are made, monthly and yearly 4 Creativity: images, pictures, diagrams, 2 tables/graphs, colorful. Looks neat. 4 Grammar, Spelling and References: good grammar and spelling are evident. At least 3 sources listed. 4 Total20
