PLEASE JOIN US IN PRAYER
We come to you Lord To be built into a spiritual house Founded on the rock of St Peter’s faith. May we prepare our minds for action, And carefully examine The life and teachings of Jesus your Son, So that our community may proclaim His mighty acts And love each other with all our hearts. We ask this through Christ our Lord Amen. St Peter the Apostle. Pray for us.

sptamaths.co.uk Course Overview sptamaths.co.uk
The aim of these courses is to build upon and extend the mathematical learning in the areas of algebra, geometry and trigonometry and to introduce elementary calculus at higher level only. The course consists of Unit assessments (Nabs) which are assessed internally (including extended Nabs) and a final external exam. The National Exam consists of two papers. Paper I is non-calculator and Paper II is calculator. The only exception is Financial Maths which is a certificate based qualification. Those who pass the unit tests but do not pass the final exam will receive a certificate showing the unit passes. Course Overview sptamaths.co.uk

sptamaths.co.uk Homework & Assessment sptamaths.co.uk
Formal homework will be set on a regular fortnightly basis. A reasonable amount of daily homework will also be required to allow the class to progress from a common starting point in the next lesson. In addition to set homework, your child is expected to review and revise coursework throughout the year, not just in the run up to assessments. Unit Assessments (Nabs) On completion of each unit, your child will sit a Unit Test set by SQA. These last 45 minutes and are marked by the class teacher. The tests are designed to assess the basic skills learned in each unit and are thus deemed to be below exam standard. Pass mark is high, approximately 75-80%. They may re-sit the tests once, but the need to do so implies that either they have not done sufficient work or that they are attempting a course that is too difficult. sptamaths.co.uk
