5. Inter linking of Rivers
NWDA with the concurrence of concerned states undertaken the preparation of DPR of agreed links
DPR for Ken Betwa Link Phase-I&II and Daman Ganga Pinjal link completed
DPR for Par Tapi Narmada link is under progress. Will be submitted
A Task Force also Constituted on Inter-linking, three meetings held.

6. Inter linking of Rivers- issues/constrants
Preparation of DPR of linking projects can be taken only after consensus among concerned states
Clearance from various appraisal agencies such as MoE&F, MoTA
Investment clearance by NITI AYOG & Techno economic clearance by TAC of Ministry
Projects to be implemented either through state Govt funds or by financial assistance by MOWR under AIBP or by other agencies.

7. Abetment of Arsenic contamination: Issues/Constraint

Preparation of comprehensive project on Arsenic mitigation for whole country

8. Development of Ground Water Resources: Issues/constraints
“Web based system for Receipt and Issuing of NOC by Central Ground Water Authority to Abstract Ground Water” for Integration with e-Biz Portal already functioning under NAQUIM.
Data gap analysis completed for an area of 5.89 lakh sq.km. in Aquifer mapping programme.
Ground water recharge and Arsenic mitigation along Ganga basin: Action Plan for pilot under preparation
Constraints: Only 93 crore funds available

9. AIBP- Issues/Constraints
Budget of the Ministry has been drastically cut, Only Rs 1000 crore available for National Projects and MMI Scheme
PMKSY- Rs 1000 crore available for CADWM,RRR & MI and other schemes proposed by state including Ground Water
Funding pattern being finalized
No money for Ken Betwa interlinking, Siang Middle , Lakhwar,Renuka, Kishau Projects

10. JAL Kranti Abhiyan- Issues/constraints
To be launched from 15th May 2015.Guidelines under submission.

11. Flood Management Programme
Funds for the approved proposals will be released on priority
Release will be proportioned within allocated BE of Rs 200 crore
A cushion of Rs 50 crore for flood protection works on Ganga from Mirzapur to Varanasi and emergent works on Jhelum will be kept
Constraints: Insufficient funds

12. Flood Forecasting
CWC started flood forecasting in J&K at Rammunshibagh on Jhelum near Srinagar.
New flood forecasting web site launched for timely dissemination of flood data.
Suitable advisories issued to States during unprecedented floods and very severe cyclonic storms (HUDHUD and NILOFER).
Regional office of GFCC opened at Lucknow for better coordination.

13. Polavaram Projects Notification of Polavaram Project Authority issued.
Rs. 250 crore released for Polavaram Project
A CEO and other senior officers appointed. First meeting of the Polavaram River Project held in March 2015
Constraints: Investment clearance from NITI AYOG for revised cost

14. PANCHESHWAR PROJECT
Pursuant to Article 10 of Mahakali Treaty, Indo Nepal Pancheshwar Development Authority (PDA) for implementation of Pancheshwar Multipurpose project set up. Two meetings of its Governing Body have been held
3+DPR under preparation by WAPCOS
Constraints: Finalization of funding pattern & involvement of Nepalese side in DPR

15. Siang Middle Projects
A cumulative basin impact study for Siang sub-basin of Brahmaputra basin carried out and master plan based strategy on hydro development was developed paving way for development of 17,800 MW hydropower
Meeting with Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh held in April 2015
Constraints: No funds for this project in this year

16. E Governace Iniatives
Handy pocket books highlighting the achievements of Ministry launched by Hon’ble Minister on
E Book uploaded on website
Online portal for grant of NOC for extraction of ground water started
E procurement hands on training organized in association with NIC
Web based water resources information system on GIS platform – India-WRIS was maintained. Unclassified data of CWC and CGWB placed on portal for public access.
