3 Time & budget Time period – April 2010 – April 2011(?) Grant – Total for 2010: 510 000 DKK Salaries, meetings and travel costs – 60 000 DKK for DMU, SMHI, FMI, METROPOLIA, NILU, VTI, SLB, ITM – +30 000 DKK for ITM

4 Goals a more accurate, validated calculation model of non-exhaust (including road dust) emissions – better predictions of PM10 and PM2.5 concentrations and exposure – more accurate assessments of non-exhaust source contributions – more accurate evaluation of the effects of abatement strategies operational recommendations to local authorities on how to monitor and keep control of road dust emissions

5 Data SNIFFER EMMA eddy correlation of coarse particles laboratory road test data Statistical and source receptor analysis of the data – particle size distributions and size segregated (PM10, PM2.5 and PM1) trace metal concentrations

6 Models Dispersion and process modeling and validation of models and parameterizations Emission models developed by – SMHI – NILU OSPM dispersion model

9 Own contributions ITM – 1) "Characterization of aerosols emitted from railway and road traffic – two important sources for peoples’ exposure in urban areas" which will provide characterization of road traffic particles (3.4 MSEK 2010-2012) NOT FUNDED – 2) "Traffic Emissions of Aerosols by Climate and Health Relevant Sizes" (TEACHERS) which will provide direct flux measurements of non-exhaust particles in Stockholm (3.2 MSEK 2010-2012) NOT FUNDED NILU & FMI – TRANSPHORM (EU project) SMHI & ITM – Mapping PM10 (SEPA) SMHI – Validation of SIMAIR model (SEPA) DMU – DMPS and soot measurements at 3 stations in Copenhagen (Miljöstyrelsen) FMI – MEGAPOLI (EU) Nordic Envicon & Metropolia – KAPU (national)
