2 Building on Past Recommendations… 2003/2005 Committees - TQFR - Lunch hours for campus offices - Healthier food choices in C-Store, CDS - Non-clashing exams/sets during midterms - Attempts to get a handle on unit data - REGIS - Stewardship Committee

3 2006 Exit Survey… 70% satisfied with employment opportunities 66% would come to Caltech again 58% would recommend it to a student like themselves

4 2006 Exit Survey… Less than half satisfied with quality of advising process, especially before choosing their major In 2005 Faculty Survey, a significant number of faculty felt they were not informed enough on how to advise.

5 This year’s committee Student/Faculty Interactions - ARC is setting up student faculty lunches on a once a term basis - ASCIT has ample funds for this, but for one reason or another they are largely unused. - Suggested to institute advisor-student lunches (possibly using ASCIT funding) on a once-a-term basis - Also, propose MOSH/ASCIT funded faculty lunches in the houses

6 This year’s committee Student/Faculty Interactions - Faculty Guide website is operational, does a lot to inform - A student-led portion of the faculty orientation might be useful as well - Highlight role of student option reps as complement to advisors

7 This year’s committee Athletic uniting - Athletic Department is looking into how sports teams are united in relation to PE classes - Suggested survey of student-athletes to gather uniting data

8 This year’s committee Counseling and tutoring - Services are not as well publicized as they could be. - Advisor should have these resources at hand to suggest to student

9 Upcoming developments Admissions is forming a task force to explore possibly introducing partially holistic methods of evaluation of applicants
