3 3 What is Ofis? Introduction What is Ofis? Why Ofis? What Do I Get From Ofis How Ofis operates? ● An acronym for Online Fingerprint Identification System. ● It is a System Development Kit (SDK) in Ready-Pack to ease system developer in adding a layer of fingerprint security to any of their software solutions. 4 4 Why Ofis? Prevent illegal and unauthorized access to your system by deploying biometrics identification technology. Introduction What is Ofis? Why Ofis? What Do I Get From Ofis How Ofis operates? Copyright © 2006 Exportech Portugal. All rights reserved

5 5 What Do I Get From Ofis? Ofis Client to be installed at all terminals. It includes FingerTec® Ofis Scanner and client- side software. Ofis Server to be installed in the Server. The Ofis Server includes a server program. Ofis consists of 2 modules: Introduction What is Ofis? Why Ofis? What Do I Get From Ofis How Ofis operates? Copyright © 2006 Exportech Portugal. 6 6 How Ofis operates? Works in Web-based & Client-Server application. The Ofis Client is to read fingerprint and to generate fingerprint template. The template will be sent to the Ofis Server for enrollment, verification & storage. 14 14 12 How secure is Ofis if compared to “username & password” system? The uniqueness of biometric characteristics is different for every individual, and it is not transferable to or can be utilized by any third party like username and password. The authorized personnel must present to prove to the system he is the rightful person to access to the system, whereas username and password can be passing around for any third party unnoticeable by the system. The fingerprint templates are created with a proprietary algorithm that works much like a password 'hash' algorithm. It is a one-way conversion (i.e. fingerprint image -> fingerprint template) that cannot be reversed. This means that fingerprint templates cannot be used to recreate the fingerprint image. 15 15 12 How user friendly is Ofis? All the Ofis server installation and Ofis client installation are done using Installshield which means that you will just need to click “Next” button to complete the installation process. The installation process may just take a few minutes. Besides that, you will be provided with the sample code to invoke the fingerprint registration process and fingerprint verification process. It can be served as a guideline to help you to implement Ofis into your system. Does the large fingerprint database affect the identification speed? It does and doesn’t. If the software is using 1:1 fingerprint verification method, the speed of identification will not be affected by large fingerprint database. On the other hand, if the software is using 1:N fingerprint verification method, the speed of identification will decrease slightly as the Ofis needs to verify all the fingerprints in the database. 16 16 12 What is the size of one fingerprint template? One fingerprint template is 1,024 bytes which is equivalent to 1kb. How large the fingerprint database that can be handled in one system? The fingerprint database is unlimited. You may have as many fingerprints stored in your database depending on the database system that your system is using. 17 17 What is the speed of Ofis fingerprint identification? Using a Pentium 4 CPU 2.4Mhz with 512 RAM, the web-based application can verify around 666 fingerprint/minute where client-server based application can verify up to 78000 fingerprint/minute. If the application is using one to one fingerprint verification method, fingerprint can be verified within 5 seconds regardless whether it is in web-based application or client-server based application. How software developers integrate their solution with Ofis SDK? The Ofis could be the simplest SDK the software developers ever encounter with. It consists of fingerprint reading module at the client side and fingerprint verification module at the server side. The integration of Ofis is merely a threshold level for any software system; hence the core solution remains intact without any interruption.
