Ray Kroc By Gabby Duran

October 5,1902 - January 4, 1984

The Younger Days Born and Raised in Illinois. Dropped out of High school to work in the instrument selling business, but that did not work out and soon was closed down. At age 15 he lied about his age to be able to be an ambulance driver for the Red Cross. He then moved to Chicago to become a Jazz Pianist and a salesman.

Education Ray Krocs didn’t get a full High School Education. He got most of his Business Education from selling experience. Some of his first jobs were paper cup sales man, pianist, Jazz musician, band member, radio DJ at Oak Park Radio Station, and then Milk Shake Mixers

McDonalds Ray first notices the restaurant, run by the McDonalds brothers, when he sold them 8 milk shake makers After he visited the McDonalds in San Bernardino he became convinced he could sell a milkshake mixer to ever franchise they opened and ended u p become their franchising agent. Ray became annoyed with the brothers not wanting to up more then a handful of restaurants, he bought them out for 2.7 million dollars

McDonalds Even though Ray had bought McDonalds the brothers wouldn't’t give him the property so he built his first McDonalds next to the brothers and ended up run the brothers McDonalds bankrupt. He made strict rules on hoe the food should be prepared and still for a cheap price.

McDonalds To keep on top Ray came up with two ideas that would bring in more profit for the company 1 st was to have smaller McDonalds restaurants inside other stores This would save a lot of money of having to open a full size restaurant and also did a lot of advertising for the business. 2 nd was the idea to start selling McDonalds internationally Selling internationally brings in more income then selling in the united states for McDonalds

Fun Facts During The First World War Ray was actually in the same regiment as Walt Disney. When Ray was a child his father took him to a phrenologist, someone that practices reading the bumps on a persons head, and he said that Ray would have a future in the food industry. There are no McDonalds in Disneyland because Ray Kroc wouldn’t raise the prices of the food like Walt Disney wanted. In 1974 Ray bought the San Diego Padres and owned them until 1984. 1 out of 8 Americans have worked for McDonalds.
