4 R ULES TO MAKE NOUNS PLURAL Add –s to make most singular nouns plural Add –es to singular nouns which end in s, sh, ch, x, or z If a singular noun ends in a CONSONANT + y, change the y to i and add es If a singular noun ends in a VOWEL + y, just add an s

7 R ULES FOR POSSESSIVE NOUNS To form the possessive of a SINGULAR NOUN: add ‘s My dad’s shirt is in the wash. Did you know the school’s mascot is a bison?

8 R ULES FOR POSSESSIVE NOUNS To form the possessive of a PLURAL NOUN: -add s’ if the plural noun ends in s -add ‘s if the plural noun does not end in s Our dads’ shirts are in the wash. The children’s school mascot is a bison.
