Coventry City Council: Sports Strategy Introduction A key element of the work is to assess all sports provision in the area. We will be examining the Quality, quality and accessibility Distribution Use This work will be used to identify The strategic needs for sports facilities. What replacement, refurbished and new facilities are required to meet changing demands. Priorities, issues and opportunities that will inform decision making and investment. Coventry City Council: Sports StrategyIntegrity, Innovation, Inspiration Outcomes Effective Coventry Sports Strategy to increase current levels of participation, improve satisfaction with sports provision and further raise the City’s sporting profile. Robust Playing Pitch Strategy which delivers accessible, high quality outdoor sport and recreation facilities. Detailed Sports Facilities Strategy that delivers accessible, high quality indoor sport and recreation facilities. Clear Aquatic Strategy that delivers high quality, accessible aquatic facilities and water-based participation opportunities. Concise report and recommendations on School Facilities (on and off-site) which identifies gaps and/or over-supply.

Coventry City Council: Sports StrategyIntegrity, Innovation, Inspiration Aims “To have an effective Sports Strategy which will increase levels of participation, improve satisfaction and further raise the sporting profile of the city”. In order to achieve the above… Coventry needs an accessible, high quality and sustainable network of facilities for sport and active recreation which meet local needs and are valued by the community.

Coventry City Council: Sports Strategy The Strategy will be pivotal to decisions on Coventry’s future approach to, and investment in, sport and recreation facilities. It will, in effect, be used by the Council and partners to underpin plans for the provision of accessible, high quality facilities across the City. Coventry City Council: Sports StrategyIntegrity, Innovation, Inspiration Considering current facility stock City presently has under-supply of swimming pools and sports halls (Sport England). Number of pools on school sites -challenge both with replacement and/or refurbishment. Quality of the City’s current portfolio of sports facilities is highly variable. Active People survey identifies that satisfaction levels with the City’s sport and leisure provision are low.

Lifestyle changes underpinned by improved levels of community access to and use of school sports facilities. Mixed economy of leisure providers - Coventry Sports Trust, Coventry Sports Foundation….. schools, clubs, etc. Population growth.
