(second logo) Teamwork! (second logo) Teamwork!

(second logo) Teamwork! 2 There were four people, Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody. There was an important job to be done and everybody was asked to do it. Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it but Nobody did it.

(second logo) Teamwork! 3 Somebody got angry about that, because it was everybody’s job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it but Nobody realised that Everybody wouldn’t do it. It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what everyone could have done.

(second logo) Teamwork! 4 Teams work best when Everyone joins in. Everyone is willing to listen and really consider other people’s point of view. Everyone is pulling in the same direction. Everyone feels they can share their ideas and concerns without feeling that others may think them “unimportant” or “silly”.

(second logo) Teamwork! 5 Everyone can accept that other people’s ideas and solutions may be okay, even though you would have done it differently. Everyone believes that teams can make a difference, that they really will be listened to and can change things. Everyone accepts responsibility for moving forward.

(second logo) Teamwork! (second logo) Teamwork! Belbin – Roles and Checklist *CHAIRMAN (* outward looking team members) Dominant, skilled at summing up, draws together good communicators. Not really the Chairman but coordinates efforts to meet goals and targets. Good at seeing peoples strengths & weaknesses.

(second logo) Teamwork! (second logo) Teamwork! Belbin – Roles and Checklist *SHAPER (* outward looking team members) Impatient and impulsive. Always trying to pull the ideas and objectives together and move forward.

(second logo) Teamwork! (second logo) Teamwork! Belbin – Roles and Checklist *PLANT (* outward looking team members) Introvert, puts forward ideas and proposals, creative. Can be very original and radical. More interested in major issues than details. Can be critical and prickly.

(second logo) Teamwork! (second logo) Teamwork! Belbin – Roles and Checklist *RESOURCE INVESTIGATOR (* outward looking team members) Has contacts everywhere, external ideas. Gets bored easily. Bursts of short- lived enthusiasm, but doesn’t always follow through.

(second logo) Teamwork! (second logo) Teamwork! Belbin – Roles and Checklist TEAM WORKER (* outward looking team members) Usually likeable and popular but unassertive. Loyal, instinct is to build on others ideas – not destroy. Good listeners, hate friction.

(second logo) Teamwork! (second logo) Teamwork! Belbin – Roles and Checklist COMPANY WORKER (* outward looking team members) Gets job done. Turn decisions into practical realities. Work systematically and methodically. Doesn’t like “airy fairy” ideas!

(second logo) Teamwork! (second logo) Teamwork! Belbin – Roles and Checklist MONITOR Nit picker. Judgement spot on, so necessary team member. Good at analysing problems and options. Very objective.

(second logo) Teamwork! (second logo) Teamwork! Belbin – Roles and Checklist FINISHER Need no support, and make poor team members. Perfectionists, will cover everything themselves. Compulsive meeters of deadlines.

(second logo) Teamwork! 14 The absence of one of the roles obviously weakens any team, but equally the presence of too many of one type produces predictable problems. For instance, with too many Plants, many good ideas are produced but not carried through to conclusion. Sometimes, especially in smallest teams, members double up and have a secondary role.

(second logo) Teamwork! 15 IMPERFECT PEOPLE CAN MAKE PERFECT TEAMS!
