What did Jesus say about Patience? [Mark 5:21-43] The Patient Widow and the Judge [Luke 18:1-7] Jairus and the Sick Woman [Mark 5:21-43]

Jairus When he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet. He pleaded earnestly with him, “My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.” So Jesus went with him. (Mark 8:22-24)

The Sick Woman ‘Who touched my clothes?’ (Mark 5:30) ‘Daughter, your faith has healed you.’ (Mark 5:48)

Jairus (Part II) “Don’t be afraid; just believe.” (Mk.5:36)

Jairus (Part II) 13 We do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him... 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. (1 Thess.4:13-16)

Jairus (Part II) “Talitha koum!” “King’s Cross” Timothy Keller

Jairus (Part II) [He] is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine. (Eph.3:20)

The Sick Woman (Part II) They who wait for the L ORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. (Isa.40:31) I wait for the L ORD, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope. I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning. (Ps.130:5,6)

Conclusion About the woman: “[Jesus] lost power so she could gain strength. But on the cross he lost his very life, so we could live forever. The only way for Jesus to give us this power and life was to go through weakness and death.” Timothy Keller: ‘King’s Cross’

Conclusion Regarding Jairus and his little girl: “Are you trying to hurry Jesus? Are you impatient with the waiting? Let him take you by the hand, let him do what he wants to do. He loves you completely. He knows what he’s doing. Soon it will be time to wake up. Let us be conformed to his patience, that we might be made partakers of the resurrection.” Timothy Keller: ‘King’s Cross’
