3 Purpose  This session will focus on personal hygiene, the do and don’ts of dressing up, and teaching students how to tie a tie.

4 Agenda  Ice Breaker (5 minutes)  Personal Hygiene Discussion (15 minutes)  The do’s and don’t of business dress (20 minutes)  Tying a neck tie (15 minutes)  Announcements/Reminder (5 minutes)

5 Hygiene  What is personal hygiene?

6 Hygiene  Why do we need to maintain good personal hygiene?

7 Hygiene  What are some things we can do to maintain our personal hygiene?

8 Activity  Activity: MatchingProducts & Actions to the Situation  Each student will receive either a product or an action.  The tasks is to match the product with the appropriate action.  For example: Product- Going on a date Action- Iron clothes, shave, bathe, brush teeth

9 Making an impression  55 % of another person’s perception of you is based on how you look.  Dress for the job you want, not the job you have.  “75% of recruiters believe that how a person dresses for work affects one's job, salary, and possible promotions” (http://wingsforsuccess.org) “Your first impression is always a lasting impression.”

10 Types of Dress Attire  Business Professional – Shirt and tie is required – A suit is preferred but you can wear a blazer  Business Ready – Shirt and tie is required – A suit or blazer is not required  Business Casual – Shirt (Button down or polo) and tie is suggested – A suit is not required  Casual –Plain t-shirt or polo with khakis, jeans, or shorts –DOES NOT include: shirts with profanity or graphics

11 Tips for dressing up  Jewelry – Keep to a minimum  Ties should reach the top of your belt buckle.  Shoes can be with or without shoe ties.  Always wear dress socks. No white socks! Exposing skin due to short socks is not professional.  Keep hair, nails, and teeth well maintained.  Tattoos should be covered, whether with clothing, shoes or make up. Piercings-Think wisely before you get something done.

12 Do’s and Don’t’s DO:  Wear deodorant, brush your teeth, trim and polish nails, brush your hair  Wear appropriate jewelry DON’T:  Don’t wear overpowering cologne or perfume  Don’t try out elaborate hairstyles  Don’t wear trendy clothing, keep it classic
