2 Writer’s Warm-up Grab your Writer’s Notebooks for the following warm-up: One minute the teacher was talking about the Civil War. And the next minute he was gone. Just vanished— along with everyone else over the age of 14 in a 100- mile radius around South Riding, VA. In one instant adults were gone and we were all that was left. Begin writing your story where this has left off. Stay in the first person. What would you do? How would society survive? What would you do to survive? Things to consider: Washington D.C. is roughly 45 miles away; Parents/Adults would be gone; There would probably be accidents around the area from grown- ups disappearing; Television & News wouldn’t be working--unless run by children 14 & Under.
