Holistic Human Development “Prout is very important to all who yearn for a liberation which starts from economics and opens to a totality of personal and social human existence.” Dr. Leonardo Boff, co-founder of Liberation Theology, wrote:

Authentic Human Development “In every person there are three dimensions: the physical, the mental and the spiritual.” “Prout was carefully thought out to create a development with equilibrium and with harmony.” “The Prout system … has a correct understanding of the human being, personal and collective, and authentic human development …”

The Physical Dimension the physical body – human bodies the world of measurable phenomena nature natural resources the fertility of the earth the physical chemical elements … also the other created beings: –rocks, plants and animals

The Mental Dimension the mental sphere – human minds intelligence the will the imagination the psychic life formed by emotions our inner and archetypal sensibility

The Spiritual Dimension the spiritual sphere – unit consciousness (soul) the disposition of the human being to link microcosm with Macrocosm to perceive the totality to discover the whole of all things the message that comes from the greatness of the universe the capacity to contemplate, venerate and dialog with the Mystery By this actuation, the human being turns into a cosmic being.

The Importance of the Spiritual Dimension President Hugo Chavez said: “This book we appreciate very much. Your visit has come at such an opportune moment. Thank you very much, brother, and let's continue with spirituality, spirit, good faith, morality, and the mystical force that moves the world.”

Universal spirituality: Respect for all forms of mysticism. Inter-religious gathering in Rio de Janeiro

The Communist View of the Human Being The human being is an economic animal controlled by historical forces. Lenin: “The most essential thing in Marxism is the concrete analysis of the concrete situation." Sarkar: –But the constant adjustment of psychic waves (the analysis) to physical waves (the concrete situation) results in the gradual crudification of the mind. –Everything, even the subtle aspects of human life become like stone.

The Capitalist View of the Human Being The value of a resource is how much money people will pay for it. Adam Smith: the most efficient production occurs when everyone follows their own selfish desire (“the invisible hand”). Thus capitalism pushes consumer materialism. Strange contradiction: effective markets require honest and truthful traders.

Property Rights John Locke (17 th century): if one buys an area of land, he/she has the right to own it and use it. All indigenous people and traditional cultures thought more wholistically: “The land doesn’t belong to me, I belong to the land!” Prout’s concept of “Cosmic inheritance” expands this traditional spiritual perspective. The planet and the universe are the common property of all humanity. We have right to share and use them, but not abuse them. Individuals can have usufructuary rights.

Abraham Maslow’s Hierarchy of Human Needs Physiological needs Safety Sense of belonging, love Esteem Self-actualization Transpersonal

Expanding Sentiments Self Community Geo-sentiment Socio-sentiment Humanism Neohumanism Sentiment: emotional tendency to identify with things we like - whatever gives us pleasure.

Neohumanism There is only one man, and his name is all men. There is only one woman, and her name is all women. There is only one child, and its name is all children. Carl Sandburg A true society means a group of people moving together towards universal humanism. Humanity is like a family.
