1 Lesson 3: Time Worked Consumer Math: Pages 4-7

2 Employees’ wages are based on the time that they spend on the job
Employees’ wages are based on the time that they spend on the job. In these problems, note that A.M. refers to the morning; P.M refers to afternoon. Example Manny arrived at work at 7:00 A.M. He went out for lunch at 12:00 noon. He returned at 1:00 and worked until 3:00. How many hours did he work? Step 1: Find the A.M. time and the P.M. time. Subtract the earlier time from the later time. 12:00 noon (later time) 3:00 P.M. (later time) -7:00 A.M. (earlier time) :00 P.M. (earlier time) 5:00 = 5 hours 0 minutes 2:00 = 2 hours 0 minutes
