Description Pitted Keratolysis is bacterial skin infection found on the surface of the feet and toes that destroys the stratum corneum, It is a fairly common infection.

Symptoms The symptoms of pitted keratolysis aren’t too scary there is just minor pain and a pungent smell.

Cause The causes of pitted keratolysis include:
Prolonged occlusion (keeping your feet enclosed for extended periods of time.) Hyperhidrosis (which means having your feet exposed to excessive amounts of liquid.) Increased skin surface pH.

Cure Wearing properly fitted shoes Changing / cleaning socks
Washing socks at 140 degrees Fahrenheit Roll-on antiperspirant

Worst case scenario The worst case scenario is simple an extension of the symptoms they are only more intense.

3 facts It effects all races
It can happen to any sex but it is found predominately in men. No age is exempt for pitted keratolysis either.
