1 CASE STUDIESCASE STUDIES ONStor ONStor is a provider of scalable clustered NAS solutions that deliver open network file storage for the enterprise. They licensed the “Generic File Server” suite of protocols. MCPP Support’s quick response and timely resolution of technical issues have immensely helped ONStor in building a scalable, enterprise Clustered NAS solution. As it continues to rapidly grow its customer base, ONStor can rely on Microsoft Technical Support as a trusted partner. VBrick Systems, Inc. VBrick is a provider of standards-based video networking solutions. They licensed the “Streaming Media” suite of protocols. The MCPP program provided them good quality protocol documents. By participating in Microsoft Plugfest, VBrick’s engineers got direct access to senior Microsoft developers to ensure easy adoption of the protocols. Blue Lane Technologies, Inc. Blue lane Technologies provides solutions that help optimize business operations and availability with their inline patch proxy for enterprise servers. Blue Lane licensed the “Proxy Firewall” suite of protocols. Blue Lane has been very satisfied with Microsoft support related to MCPP. The timely response and tremendous support of Protocol Management Team has helped save crucial development time. Crossroads Systems, Inc. Crossroads Systems, Inc., is a provider of Business Information Assurance (BIA) solutions for connectivity, storage, and information security. They licensed the “TDS SQL Server” protocols. The MCPP program provided them a significant time saving in development. “ONStor has reaped tremendous benefits by being a member of MCPP. With access to an extensive library of Microsoft protocols and close cooperation with Microsoft experts ONStor has been able to accelerate the development of “Clustered NAS solutions and dramatically shorten time-to-market.” -Narayan Venkat V.P. Marketing ONStor

2 CASE STUDYCASE STUDY VBrick is a provider of standards-based video networking solutions. The VBrick WM Appliance is compatible with Microsoft Windows Media and converts analog video and audio from any source into digital Windows Media streams. VBrick licensed the “Streaming Media” suite of protocols. The MCPP program provided them good quality protocol documents. Their participation in Microsoft Plugfest gave VBrick’s engineers direct access to senior Microsoft developers to ensure easy adoption of the protocols. VBrick introduced its Windows Media-based products in 2005 and they have had a very positive affect on their revenues and customer base. Their sales into the corporate/enterprise vertical market have grown over 50%. VBrick Systems, Inc. 12 Beaumont Road Wallingford, CT 06492, USA 203-265-0044 www.vbrick.com “Our engineers worked directly with senior Microsoft developers to ensure that we extend VBrick’s reliable video capabilities across the new Windows Vista environment,” said John Senior, Software Engineering Manager, VBrick Systems, Inc. “We look forward to working with Microsoft to help organizations adopt video quickly and easily.”

3 CASE STUDYCASE STUDY Blue Lane Technologies provides solutions that help optimize business operations and availability with their inline patch proxy for enterprise servers. The Blue Lane solution eliminates the need to hastily install patches on enterprise servers. Hundreds of servers located behind a Blue Lane appliance can be instantly patched with Blue Lane's inline patch, requiring no code or configuration changes to servers, thereby maximizing server stability and uptime Blue Lane licensed the “Proxy Firewall” suite of protocols. Blue Lane has been very satisfied with Microsoft support related to MCPP. The timely response and tremendous support of Protocol Management Team has helped in saving crucial development time. The Blue Lane team has seen a significant improvement in documentation access--the Web access to documents, new PDF files have been easier and faster to use. Blue Lane Technologies, Inc. 10450 Bubb Road Cupertino, CA 95014 www.bluelane.com “We have been very satisfied with MS support related to MCPP. All groups have been proactive – whether it is account management or helping us whenever there have been any issues related to access of documentation. We are working on using the interoperability lab facility which has been opened to MCPP licensees. There has been tremendous support from the TAM team, and Program Managers in the early preparatory stage and we are looking forward to the lab interoperability testing.” - Rohit Toshniwal Manager, Research

4 CASE STUDYCASE STUDY ONStor is a provider of scalable clustered NAS solutions that deliver open network file storage for the enterprise. ONStor Scalable Clustered NAS solutions include: · Multi-protocol file sharing: Windows, UNIX & Linux · Concurrent, native support for CIFS and NFS · Cross-platform authentication via Active Directory and NIS · Full NT domain support with authentication services being provided by Windows NT domain controllers (PDC / BDC) and Windows Active Directory (AD) services · Appears to Windows clients as a Windows server ONStor licensed the “Generic File Server” suite of protocols. MCPP Support’s quick response and timely resolution of technical issues have immensely helped ONStor in building a very scalable, enterprise Clustered NAS solution. As it continues to rapidly grow its customer base, ONStor can rely on Microsoft Technical Support as a trusted partner. 5 CASE STUDYCASE STUDY Crossroads Systems, Inc., is a provider of Business Information Assurance (BIA) solutions for connectivity, storage, and information security. A customized Tabular Data Stream (TDS) decoder was written (in C++), based on the protocol specifications received from Microsoft. This decoder allows DBProtector to monitor database traffic as it passes between the SQL Server database and its clients. Crossroads licensed the “TDS SQL Server” protocols. A significant time savings in development: Crossroads estimates it would have taken several years to completely reverse engineer the SQL Server protocol and SQL grammar. Having the actual specifications available allowed them to complete the bulk of the work in around 6 months. Crossroads Systems, Inc. 11000 N. Mo-Pac Expy Austin, TX 78759 USA www.crossroads.com “Adding support for SQL Server basically increased our potential target market by 50%-- before we supported two of the top three database vendors, now we support all three.” -Anyck Turgeon Vice President
