4. Gadjah Mada University (UGM) as one of leading institutions in Indonesia has sufficient infrastructure and capacity to accommodate the Research Center. For the purpose of social accountability, UGM will assist other universities to uplift their research capacity 4

Main Purpose: Establishing a University Consortium on Global Health Specific Purposes: – To strengthen researches capacity (human resources, finance and infrastructure) on Global Health at UGM, UNSOED, UNAND, UNMUL, UNDIP – To strengthen research coordination and management on Global Health at UGM, UNSOED, UNAND, UNMUL and UNDIP Purposes 7

To strengthen collaborative researches on Global Health between Heidelberg University, Ludwig Maximilians University-Munich, DKFZ, Senckenberg Museum, and University Consortium on Global Health To transfer, share and disseminate advances in sciences, technology, knowledge and skills on Global Health issues To contribute to the Indonesian Policy Makers on how to tackle global health issues 8

9. Purposes To collaborate in getting research funds from international agencies To promote sustainability through equal partnership To assist the Indonesian Government in achieving MDGs To promote collaboration with other funding agencies and partners, nationally and internationally 9

Program Strategy UGM will host the Consortium and will take the lead in developing and running the Program The Program will be divided into four phases: – Phase 1: Proposal preparation and start up – Phase 2: Building the foundation – Phase 3: Internal consolidation – Phase 4: Self-financing and self-governance 10
