6 Entry Criteria General Entry Criteria Attitude to learning in Year 10 and Year 11 suggests Sixth Form route is appropriate Appropriate course A-Level courses Minimum of 5 A* - C grades at GCSE in separate subjects Some subjects have specific entry requirements Vocational Pathways: Ideally a minimum of 5A*-C at GCSE but a little more flexibility We are an inclusive Sixth Form

7 Why Choose PCHS? 98% pass rate 42.8% of all grades were A*-B Vast majority of applicants were successful in gaining their first or second university course choice. 60% of those who went to University, went to Russell Group Universities. There are currently just over 200 students in Year 12 and in Year 13 in the Sixth Form. Average class size of 10-15.

Students enjoy their time in the Sixth Form 92% of students said- “I am happy to come to Sixth Form lessons”. 93% of students said – “The teachers in Sixth Form are knowledgeable about the subject” 90% of students said – “I learn a lot in Sixth Form lessons”. “Very good teaching. I enjoy my lessons thoroughly and it is a honour to work at such a wonderful school”. I really LOVE my sixth form lessons as I feel my teachers in ( Languages & Philosophy and Ethics) are all genuinely interested in their subjects and show such passion for them. I feel that they make my learning experience enjoyable and pleasant. I feel that sometimes we have too much work but I also feel that it keeps me motivated and up to date with the subject. I'm really proud to be a member of this fabulous learning environment.

16 Alternatives to Sixth Form College Training Employment

17 Education College: – Opportunity to study a vocational course – leading to a specific area of work – May have different entry levels – Different way of learning – usually coursework based and mix of work experience – E.g. Animal, Land-based, Hairdressing, Construction – Wider age group – Travel costs

18 Training An Apprenticeship is a paid job with training to recognised qualification. – Expected to work the same hours as other employees – Attend college or training centre one day week (or block release) – Paid minimum wage of £2.73 but some employers pay more – Opportunity to study to Degree level

20 Employment To work full time for an employer or be self- employed, must include one day a week working towards an approved and nationally recognised qualification. Therefore this will depend on the type of work they are doing.

21 Things to consider - Visit open days, information events, careers fairs Are specific qualifications / subjects needed in order to study at university Check entry requirements Have back-up plan (especially if interested in apprenticeships) Education is free for 16 – 18 year olds (unless specialist course)
