3  BY LATE 1941, THE AXIS POWERS PUSHED THE ALLIES NEARLY TO THE BREAKING POINT  AXIS POWERS OCCUPIED GREECE & YUGOSLAVIA  AXIS POWERS WERE ADVANCING IN NORTH AFRICA  FDR AND CHURCHILL MET IN WASHINGTON DC AND DECIDED TO WAIT ON AN INVASION AGAINST JAPAN

4  IN JANUARY OF 1942 CHINA AND THE USSR AGREED TO HELP DEFEAT THE AXIS POWERS AND TO NOT MAKE A SEPARATE PEACE AGREEMENT  SONAR WAS CREATED BY THE ALLIES TO HELP PROTECT SHIPS  NEWER LONG-RANGE BOMBERS HELPED PROTECT OUR SHIPS AS WELL  ALLIES STARTED MAKING BOMBING RUNS INTO GERMANY AND TRYING TO KNOCK OUT FACTORIES, MILITARY TARGETS, AND RAILROADS

5  SEPT OF 1940, ITALIAN FORCES ATTACKED EGYPT FROM LIBYA  AFTER THE SUEZ CANAL  BRITISH RESISTED  ERWIN ROMMEL  LEADER OF GERMAN’S TANK CORPS IN AFRICA  AKA THE DESERT FOX  BERNARD MONTGOMERY  LEADER OF BRITAIN’S TANK CORPS IN AFRICA

6  BATTLE OF EL ALAMEIN  WHERE MONTGOMERY STOPPED ROMMEL’S ADVANCEMENT  DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER  LEADER OF THE US TANK CORPS  MASTER STRATEGIST  ABLE TO EVENTUALLY DEFEAT ROMMEL IN 1943 AND HE THEN ESCAPED TO EUROPE

7  RESULTED IN ITALY AS THE NEXT DESTINATION FOR THE ALLIES  CHURCHILL CALLED ITALY “SOFT UNDERBELLY OF EUROPE”  JULY OF 1943 ALLIES TROOPS LANDED IN SICILY  BY SEPT THE ALLIES LANDED ON THE MAINLAND  AS THE ALLIES ADVANCED, MUSSOLINI WAS IN SERIOUS TROUBLE AND HITLER CAME TO SAVE HIM WITH 1000s OF GERMAN SOLDIERS

9  FIGHTING THEN RAGED ON FOR MONTHS WITH GERMANY’S HELP  BY JUNE 1944, ROME WAS FINALLY CAPTURED  APRIL 1945, MUSSOLINI WAS CAPTURED AND KILLED BY ITALIAN RESISTANT FIGHTERS  BY MAY 1945, THE GERMANS WERE PUSHED OUT OF ITALY

11  EARLY 1943 THE ALLIES HAD BEGUN THEIR FINAL PUSH TO DEFEAT THE AXIS POWERS  BATTLE OF STALINGRAD  BLOCK BY BLOCK BATTLE IN THE CITY  GERMANS SURRENDERED IN JANUARY OF 1943  OVER 200,000 GERMANS DIED DURING THIS BATTLE

13  KURSK  HUGE TANK BATTLE IN THE SOVIET UNION  GERMANY VS. USSR  GERMANS LOST  GEORGE C. MARSHALL  FDR’S TOP MILITARY ADVISOR  PUT GENERAL EISENHOWER IN CHARGE OF AN ALLIED INVASION OF FRANCE

14  D-DAY  ALLIED INVASION OF GERMAN OCCUPIED FRANCE  STARTED ON JUNE 6, 1944  WAS THE LARGEST SEA AND LAND INVASION IN HISTORY  LANDED IN NORMANDY, FRANCE  BY THE END OF THE FIRST DAY, OVER 155,000 ALLED SOLDIERS WERE IN FRANCE

17  OMAR BRADLEY  GENERAL IN CHARGE OF TAKING THE BEACHES AND PUSHING INLAND  GEORGE S. PATTON  TANK COMMANDER FOR THE US THAT BROKE THROUGH THE GERMAN LINES IN JULY

18  ALLIED SOLDIERS WERE NOW ALSO PUSHING NORTHWARD FROM ITALY THROUGH SOUTHERN FRANCE  FRANCE WOULD NOW SOON BE FREE AGAIN  BY AUGUST OF 1944, PARIS WAS ONCE AGAIN FREE

19  DECEMBER OF 1944, HITLER’S LAST OFFENSIVE OF THE WAR TOOK PLACE  DESPARATE ATTEMPT TO STOP THE ALLIES  WAS IN THE ARDENNE FOREST  ATTACKED THE US FORCES IN THIS AREA  US SUFFERED OVER 77,000 CASUALTIES  WE EVENTUALLY WON THE BATTLE AND PUSHED THE GERMANS BACK
