My neighbor told me that there’s plenty of room in America, especially if you manage to get outside of a city. Therefore, poverty was considered a sign of weakness, and was considered to be the fault of those who were poor. Further supports a laissez-faire approach to business

7 “Wealth,” by Andrew Carnegie Carefully read the passage individually. As you read, highlight any line that you think is a major claim that the author is making. After you have finished reading, go back to the parts you highlighted. Do these lines encompass the main idea of the reading? Once you are sure you have identified 3-4 major claims, fill out the corresponding chart. You will need to give evidence that the author uses to support his claim and evaluate the strength of his argument.
