1 How To Make Cupcakes! Instructed by Stephanie Radicevic

2 Today’s Lesson Class Goals for today are: –To understand the steps in baking cupcakes –To understand the steps in making frosting –To know how to frost cupcakes!

3 Directions For Baking Cupcakes: Step one: Preheat oven to 325 degrees. –While oven is heating you may line cupcake pan with paper liners and set aside until they are needed.

4 Directions For Baking Cupcakes Cont. Step Two: In a bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, combine: Flour Sugar Baking powder And Salt

5 Directions for Baking Cupcakes Cont. Step Three: mix on low speed until combined. Step Four: Then add butter Mix until just coated with flour

6 Directions for Baking Cupcakes Cont. Step Five: In large glass measuring cup, whisk together: Eggs Milk And Vanilla

7 Directions for Baking Cupcakes Cont. Step Six: With mixer on medium speed, add wet ingredients in 3 parts. –Scraping down sides of bowl before each addition –Beat until ingredients are incorporated (but don’t over beat)

8 Directions for Baking Cupcakes Cont. Step Seven: Divide the batter evenly among the liners. –Filling about 2/3 full

9 Directions for Baking Cupcakes Cont. Step Eight: Place cupcakes in oven, rotating pan halfway through –Bake 17 to 20 minutes Insert cake tester to into the center, and make sure it comes out clean.

10 Directions for Baking Cupcakes Cont. Step Nine: Transfer cupcakes to a wire rack to cool completely. Repeat process with remaining batter.

11 Directions for Baking Cupcakes Cont. Step Ten: Once cupcakes have cooled, frost tops of each cupcake –Can use an offset spatula or piping bag to frost. –Can decorate with sprinkles –Serve at room temperature

12 Directions for Making Frosting! In order to finish off the cupcakes we must frost them! Any flavor can be used, today we are making vanilla frosting.

13 Directions for Making Frosting Continued Step One: In the bowl of an electric mixer, with paddle attachment, cream butter until smooth and creamy. –2 to 3 minutes of mixing until creamy

14 Directions for Making Frosting Continued Step Two: With mixer on low speed, add in: 6 cups of sugar Milk And Vanilla *Mix until light and fluffy

15 Directions for Making Frosting Continued Step Three: If necessary, Gradually add remaining 2 cups of sugar to reach desired consistency

16 Decorating Directions! Now that cupcakes and frosting are made, lets decorate! Take spatula or piping bag to frost cupcakes

17 Decorating Directions Cont. Some creative ways to decorate: –Use colored sprinkles –Use different shaped sprinkles –Can add food color to frosting for different colors

18 Serve and Enjoy! Now that your cupcakes are baked, frosted, and decorated: Serve on platter or tower And Enjoy!
