The Basics The Equipment Setting up the game How to play Diagram Extra’s Watch the Game

Simple version of quick-cricket to play at school in lessons There are 2 teams One team of batters and one team of fielders (you swap later) The aim of the game is to score as many runs as possible when batting The fielders try to stop the batters getting runs by catching the ball and getting them out

You will need One cricket bat One tennis ball (or similar) A set of wickets, plastic or wooden one pointed end to stick into the ground A cone or marker to run around

1.Find a big space outside, a grassy area ( or a playground) 2.Stick the wickets into the ground at one end of the playing area 3.Put the cone or marker about 10 metres away from the wickets 4.The batter goes in front of the wickets, and the bowler goes about 6 paces away from the batter, (see diagram) 5. All fielders spread out

1.The batter stands sideways (bat in front of the wickets) 2.The bowler throws the ball underarm about waist height, at the wickets 3.The batter has to try and hit the ball as far as possible 4.Even if the ball is not hit, the batter must run around the cone or marker and back to the wickets without the bat, that is 1 run (point) 5. Fielders get the ball and throw it back to the bowler 6.The bowler then throws the ball at the wickets even if the batter is not there 7.If the wicket is hit the batter is out, the next batter comes in

8. If the ball is caught by a fielder before it bounces the batter is out 9.Everytime the ball is bowled the batter has to run if the wicket is not hit 10.When all batters are out swap positions, (the fielders bat and the batters field) 11. The new team of batters have to beat the other team’s score to win
