ASHRAE – American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers Know the 4 ASHRAE Standards, and which credits they are associated with: 52.2 – particles EQ 3 – Construction IAQ Management Plan: During Construction, then before occupancy; EQ 5 – Indoor Chemical & Pollutant Source Control 55 - thermal comfort EQ 6 – Controllability of Systems, Lighting, Thermal Comfort; EQ 7 – Thermal Comfort, Design, Verification 62.1 - ventilation for IAQ EQ Prereq. 1 – Minimum IAQ Performance; EQ 1 – Outdoor Air Delivery Monitoring; EQ 2 – Increased Ventilation; EQ 6 – Controllability of Systems, Lighting, Thermal Comfort 90.1 - energy standard SS – Light Pollution Reduction; EA Prereq. 2 – Minimum Energy Performance; EA1 – Minimum Energy Performance EA2 – Onsite Renewable Energy; EQ 6 – Controllability of Systems, Lighting, Thermal Comfort

Goals Establish good indoor air quality Eliminate, reduce, and manage the sources of indoor pollutants Ensure individual thermal comfort and system controllability Provide for occupant connection to the outdoor environment Americans spend an average of 90% of their time indoors. IEQ – Indoor Environmental Quality

IEQ – Indoor Environmental Quality Prerequisite 1, Minimum IAQ Performance Intent: Establish minimum IAQ performance to enhance indoor air quality in buildings, thus contributing to the comfort and well- being of occupants. Requirements: Meet the minimum requirements of ASHRAE 62.1-2004 Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Quality.

Reference Standard – ASHRAE 62.1, Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality Calculations – none Submittal – Provide: Design narrative describing project’s ventilation design. If mechanically ventilated – provide documentation showing project was design to comply with ASHRAE 62.1 If naturally ventilated – provide applicable project drawings showing naturally ventilated zones and the operable window areas. IEQ – Indoor Environmental Quality Prerequisite 1, Minimum IAQ Performance Strategies: active ventilation – mechanical ventilation (ex: fan on HVAC unit) passive ventilation – natural ventilation (ex: windows and cross ventilation) mixed-mode ventilation – both mechanical and natural ventilation

IEQ – Indoor Environmental Quality Prerequisite 2, Environmental Tobacco Smoke Intent: Minimize exposure of building occupants, indoor surfaces, and ventilation air distribution systems to Environmental Tobacco Smoke (ETS).

If interior “smoking areas” - partitions must be deck to deck, no re-circulation of that return air (must exhaust to outside), and create a negative pressure with respect to surrounding rooms. Outdoor smoking areas must be 25’ from a building entrance, and away from operable windows and ventilation intakes. IEQ – Indoor Environmental Quality Prerequisite 2, Environmental Tobacco Smoke Requirements: Option 1 – Prohibit smoking in the building. Option 2 – Locate exterior designated smoking areas.

Reference Standard – ANSI/ASTM-E779, Standard Test Method for Determining Air Leakage Rate by Fan Pressurization Calculations – none Submittal – Provide: Confirm which requirements project has met If interior smoke rooms, provide appropriate copies of CD’s showing smoke room, surrounding partitions, list any dedicated ventilation system. Optional narrative to further describe testing & compliance. IEQ – Indoor Environmental Quality Prerequisite 2, Environmental Tobacco Smoke

Intent: Provide capacity for ventilation system monitoring to help sustain occupant comfort and well-being. Requirements: Install permanent monitoring systems that provide feedback on ventilation system performance. Configure monitoring equipment to generate an alarm when conditions vary by 10% or more from setpoint. IEQ – Credit 1: Outdoor Air Delivery Monitoring

Mechanically ventilated - Install CO2 monitors in all densely occupied spaces (25+ people). Locate monitor 3’ – 6’ above the floor. Mechanically ventilated – Increase breathing zone outdoor air ventilation rates by 30% above minimum rates. Naturally ventilated – show design of natural ventilation system meets CIBSE (Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers) recommendation. IEQ – Credit 2: Increased Ventilation

Strategies: Active/mechanically ventilated spaces- -use “heat recovery” Passive/naturally ventilated spaces- -Develop design requirements -Plan airflow paths -Identify special building uses -Determine ventilation requirements -Estimate external driving pressures -Select ventilation device -Analyze design IEQ – Credit 2: Increased Ventilation
