After impure vaccination. Bursa. Lepra, nodes, and coppery spots. Keloid growths.

9 Copyright HWC 2014 May be reproduced with proper citation Tetanus, Lock-jaw When convulsive symptoms appear after an injury, and lock-jaw is to be apprehended, it is always best to send at once for a physician. 9 Tetanus is infection of the nervous system with the potentially deadly bacteria Clostridium tetani (C. tetani). An early sign of tetanus, in which the jaw is locked closed because of a tonic spasm of the muscles of mastication. Also called trismus.

10 Copyright HWC 2014 May be reproduced with proper citation But, if in this emergency none can be obtained, endeavor to render assistance as you may be able. If a patient who has been wounded, complains of pains in the bowels, without any other cause, lock-jaw is to be feared. 10

11 Copyright HWC 2014 May be reproduced with proper citation Tetanus is a life-threatening but preventable disease caused by the toxin of Clostridium tetani, a ubiquitous, spore-forming, gram-positive bacillus found in high concentrations in soil and animal excrement. Reported tetanus cases have declined >95%, and deaths from tetanus have declined >99% in the US since 1947. A 2001—2008 Report found that 233 tetanus cases were reported during 2001--2008; among the 197 cases with known outcomes, the case- fatality rate was 13.2%. 11
