Ionic Bonds

What Is An Ionic Bond? An ionic bond is when a metal and a non metal combine together. An ionic bond is when metals give and non- metals take valence electrons. An ionic bond is a strong bond.

Details An element that gives away its electrons gets a positive charge. An element that receives electrons gets a negative charge. Both elements have a full valence shell of their own.

Ionic Bond Stuff The metal gives electrons. The nonmetal receives electrons. They are chemically combined. Ionic bonds is where electrons are transferred.

Ionic Or Covalent? H 2 SO 4 is covalent because all the elements are nonmetal. CaF 2 is ionic because Calcium is metal and Fluorine is a non metal. Al 2 O 3 is ionic because Aluminum is metal and oxygen is a non metal.

What Is An Ionic Bond Like? An ionic bond is like marriage a NM and a M. They are also like hot and cold they are opposites.

Easy To Remember Terms Covalent bonds are twins. Ionic bonds are like marriage. Ionic bonds are like magma and ice.

QUIZ Is it Ionic or Covalent? 1. NM and NM? 1. NM and NM? 2. Strong Bond? 2. Strong Bond? 3. Transfers Electrons? 3. Transfers Electrons? 4. Shares Electrons? 4. Shares Electrons? 5. CaF 2 5. CaF 2
