3. Clary  Clary is an shadow hunter whose father is Valentine and mother is Jocelyn. Her full name is Clarissa Adele Morgenstern. She had her memory of shadow hunter taken away by her mother and warlocks when she was a young age. Clary met the shadow hunter world when she went to a club and saw three shadow hunters kill a demon and no one else saw them. Then the memory spell started to come off and she started to regain her memory of shadow hunters. Just like that she was introduced in to the world of shadow hunters.

4. Warlocks  Warlocks, also known as Lilith's Children, are the immortal race of Downworlders offspring of demons and humans. Warlocks are immortal beings. At a in their lives, they stop aging,which point exactly will depend on their parent. Along with faeries, warlocks are the only Downworlders who can cast magic because of their demon blood unlike vampires. and werewolves Sadly cannot.

5. Fair folk  Faeries, also known as the Fair Folk or fey, are an extremely cunning immortal race of Downworlders. They have both angelic and demonic blood, attributing to both their beauty and their wickedness. The fair folk cannot lie.

6. Werewolves  Werewolves, also known as Lycanthropes and the Children of the Moon, are a species of Downworlders. Like vampires, werewolves are humans infected with a demonic disease, which gives them the ability to transform into wolves and gain their inhuman strength and enhanced abilities. This disease is spread by bites.

7. Vampires  Vampires, also known as the Children of the Night, are a species of Downworlders. Along with werewolves, vampires are humans infected with a demon disease. However, unlike the other Downworlders, vampires are considered undead. This means their bodies are no longer alive like humans are. Therefore they are immortal until they are killed. Even though they are technically dead they can still think move and eat real food. Vampires have their own clan throughout the world in this book.

8. Shadow hunters  Shadowhunters, also known as Nephilim, are a secretive race of beings who are humans born with angelic blood. They are the appointed warriors on Earth of the Angel Raziel. They are chosen to control and supervise over the Shadow World, the demons and Downworlders. They have fought the demonic forces bravely for well over the span of a thousand years, beginning their own culture and civilization within the human world. Their job is to keep the peace in the Shadow World and keep it hidden from the human world while protecting the people of both worlds. Despite, their ancestry of angles, Shadow hunters are mortal and therefore vulnerable to old age and death however, their angelic blood gives them with special abilities that allow them to achieve things inhumanly possible with the help of runes.
