Homeostasis Homeostasis – The body’s ability to regulate its inner environment Keeping the body’s systems in the right balance Staying alive

What could throw off your homeostasis? Pathogen – something that causes disease (example: bacteria or a virus)

What happens if the body can’t keep its homeostasis? If the body can’t maintain it’s homeostasis, it can cause permanent damage or death!

In the center of the bone is the red bone marrow. It produces… (3 things – look on pg 903 of your book) 1.Red blood cells (carry oxygen in your blood) 2.White blood cells (fight infection) 3.Cell fragments (help your blood clot)

Problems with Bones Leukemia – cancer of the bone marrow.

Osteoporosis – the bones do not have enough calcium and therefore become soft or brittle
