The Finger Lakes Addictions Counseling and Referral Agency, Inc. (FLACRA) FLACRA is a private, not-for-profit substance abuse treatment provider with over 30 years of experience serving the residents of the 5-County Finger Lakes Region with outpatient, residential, crisis center, vocational and youth services. Information and photograph from www.flacra.org

Ability: Both businesses require the same level of education You must at least have an undergraduate degree in clinical counseling, and preferably a Master degree in social work, counseling, or human services. Discipline: FLACRA and Wayne Behavioral have different guidelines and outlooks on how they discipline their employees.

FLACRA has an offical set of guidelines they follow. Wayne Behavioral does not have guidelines in place for disciplinary action

Culture: FLACRA and Wayne Behavioral both have customer service cultures, but they have different views on what a customer service plan is.

Recommendations : Wayne Behavioral : 1)They should develop and implement a reward system for employees when they meet their goals. If Wayne Behavioral adopted a reward system employees would be more motivated and committed. Also it would have the benefit of increasing job satisfaction, which would it a more pleasant environment for both employees and clients.

2) Wayne Behavioral should have some type of discipline and set of standards for employees to follow. Wayne Behavioral's current system does not provide motivation for employees to do the right thing. 3)Wayne Behavioral should develop a mission statement is clear and concise to promote unity among employees, clients and the community. Here is an example of what Wayne Behavioral's mission statement could say: “ To provide an environment where clients feel safe.” “To provide quality client care.” “To foster long-term relationships with clients.”

FLACRA: 1)As we mentioned earlier, FLACRA would benefit from having a unified organizational structure. To be able to cut out middle management in order to cut costs, the way that Wayne Behavioral has done.

2)FLACRA should have a safety system like Wayne Behavioral does: using automatically locking security doors to prevent clients from entering unauthorized areas. By FLACRA implementing the securtiy locking sytem, it would also keep counselors safe.

3)FLACRA would benefit from using Management by Objectives; employees would have a personal stake in the outcomes and would be more motivated to meet the goals that are set. (applause)
