1 Welcome to our first Newsletter. We thought this would be great way to keep our patients updated about our work here at the Roald Dahl Centre. Winner: RLBUHT Chairman’s Award “I am delighted to tell you that the Roald Dahl Centre has won the prestigious Chairman’s Award for exceptional quality care, above and beyond expectations. This is excellent news for our staff and patients.” Professor Toh Patient Focus Group Information If you are interested in getting involved and having a say in the services you receive then why not come along to our Focus Group meetings. Ask a member of our team for more information. Anticoagulation Next meeting: 30th September 2014 Anticoagulation have had their second Focus Group meeting, which was a great success. Patient had a chance to discuss their experiences, changes in the service and new anticoagulation drugs. The patients have requested a speaker for the next meeting. Haemophilia Next meeting: TBC September (Joint Alder Hey) The group meets to discuss improving care of patients with bleeding disorders as well as providing support to other suffers who want to talk to someone in the same situation. Hoping to raise awareness to the public and health workers. As a Centre we have signed a pledge to be an active partner in this global launch. Some of our involvement will be in Social Media sites, an information stall on the Main Foyer and Grandround presentation on 10th October 2014.

The Talking Red Campaign is to get women talking about bleeding disorders that often only associated with Haemophilia in men. The stand was based in the Main Reception of the Royal Liverpool Hospital the information was available to patients, staff and visitors and they were on hand to answer any questions. This was a very successful afternoon Haemophilia Patients can now download the Haemtrack App from Google Play or iTunes Anticoagulation Service Changes RLBUHT in Collaboration with Community Health In March 2014 Royal Liverpool Broadgreen University Hospital Trust in collaboration with Liverpool Community Health, were named as the preferred provider by Liverpool Clinical Commissioning Group for delivery of Anticoagulant service across Liverpool. The commencement date is 1 st July 2014, initially for 3 years but may be extended for a further 2 years. The service will be community based delivered closer to the patients home at delegated surgeries/NHS premises via finger prick testing. Testing and dosing will be carried out the same day in a face to face consultation. Where a patient is unable to travel to a clinic alternative arrangements will be made of an equivalent standard. Flexibility will be built into the service to meet the requirements of patients identified through the on-going patient consultation Over 7000 patients to be treated in the community setting. So far 21 locations been identified as potential clinics.
