5. The “Go” field has been renamed “Go To” With your cursor in the “Go To” field, use the up and down arrows on your keyboard to scroll through forms accessed in the current session (the list rests when you logout).

6. You will notice new “My Links” to the right “Change Banner Password” link You can create Personal Links for quick access to specific Banner forms or web pages. My Institution link will open Leeds University Website

7. The Broadcast Message section displays messages that are sent to all Banner users. The Toolbar is now accessible from the main menu

8. The Site Map button has been removed and replaced with a link to the Site Map

9. Clicking on the Menu link takes you back to the main menu

11. Information Systems Services Personal Preferences

12. Banner 7 allows you to set personal preferences to customize the way Banner looks and acts. Access your preferences from the File Menu.

13. The Display Options section allows you to select the types of info to be displayed with Banner forms. The Alert Options section allows you to specify how you are prompted by Banner in specific situations

14. The User Interface Colour Settings section allows you to select colours for the various sections of Banner such as buttons and the canvas.

15. To change the canvas colour for the My Links area Click the Down Arrow

16. Click on your preferred colour Click OK

18. To change it back to the default colour – Click on the Reset button then OK

21. My Links tab allows you to enter links to websites to be displayed on the Banner Main Menu. The first link is the default link for Leeds University. It should not be altered.

22. There are two sets of fields associated with each Personal Link. The first set is for descriptions. Enter a description in the User Value field The second set is for web address. Enter the URL in the User Value field You may enter up to six Personal Links Remember to save

23. You must close and reopen Banner to see the new links

24. Information Systems Services Forms New Layout

25. Some forms now have tabs across the top. These tabs represent different blocks of information. Move from the Key Block. Instead of clicking “Next Block” to move between blocks, you can now click on the appropriate tab.

26. The dependent information appears on tabs below the top- level tab to which the information is related.

27. Right-click any blank area of the form (not a field) to bring up the options menu. In addition to form options; this menu provides quick access to functions such as Rollback, Save, Exit, Print and Add to Personal Menu

28. The Search buttons has been replaced with drop down search arrows.

29. The Search Arrow On the ID field opens the Option List

30. Separator bars have been added to help you distinguish sections of the form.

31. A calendar icon has been added to date entry fields to make it easier to enter the date.

32. Check boxes and Radio buttons can be selected by clicking either the button/checkbox or the label itself.

33. Other Layout Changes Verdana Font Banner 7 Validation Forms –centered with equal margins on the left and right hand sides. Text in a disabled field is now black – easier to read Use of space – screen resolution 1024 x 768 (less scrolling) New Terminology (Students referred to as Learners) (Academic History referred to as Outcome)

36. Title Bar Enhancement A trail of open forms appears on the title bar

37. Press F5 key on your keyboard for a quick access to the “Go To” field. To close it, press F5 key a second time.

38. The F2 key displays a list of all the tabbed windows in the form

39. Exit Banner: To exit Banner without closing all the forms Exit: To exit the current form Return to Menu: Access the Banner Main Menu without closing all the forms

42. Current Unresolved Issues Time out Currently when Banner7 times-out and closes, it takes you completely out when logged in again – this issue is being looked at. Reports Two blocks will show info (this shouldn’t appear). The info not to be changed

44. Banner 7 Upgrade Timetable Banner 6 will be withdrawn Wed 4th April 5pm (including on line services) Upgrade to Banner 7 will take place between 05-09 April 2007 Student Offices given access to Banner 7 between 10th to 13th April 2007 for final testing “Go-live” will be on 16th April 2007
