2 The origin of the Halloween: Halloween is celebrated in October 31th. Halloween’s traditional activities include trick-or-treating, bonfires, costumes ´parties and carving jack-o-lanterns. Halloween has its origins in the ancient Celtic festival known as Samhain. The activity is popular in a lot of countries. The Halloween items are: Trick-or-treating: doces ou travessuras. Bonfires: fogueiras. Carving: esculpindo.

3 Pumpkins: The most recognizable symbol of Halloween is a pumpkin carved into a jack-o-lantern. It was the start of the sundown on November 1 st. On this magical night, glowing jack-o-lanterns were carved and put at home for deceased loved ones and for the protection against malevolent spirits. 4 Black Cats: Black cats have taken a bad impression of long of the years. Greek mythology taught that a woman named Galenthias was turned into a cat. 5 Trick or treats: One of the origins of the “trick or treat” on Halloween is related to old urban Thanksgiving traditions of costumes. This tradition was popular in urban areas like New York and Boston, and consisted of children begging for coins or treats, and pulling pranks when they didn't get anything. 6 Witches: Witches have a long history with Halloween. The legends say that they get together twice a year when the seasons change. One of the days is October 31. The witches would gather on these nights, to celebrate a party hosted by the devil. Superstitions told of witches casting spells on unsuspecting people, transform themselves into different forms and causing other magical.
