6 I.Introductory Paragraph Hook – This is a sentence that captures the reader’s attention and makes them want to read more. Thesis – a declarative sentence that states clearly and concisely the main point the author wants to state Blueprint- a declarative sentence that summarizes your three main points that support your thesis –Each of these main points support or prove the thesis statement Main point 1 (later elaborated on in body paragraph1) Main point 2 (later elaborated on in body paragraph 2) Main point 3 (later elaborated on in body paragraph 3)

7 Body Paragraph1 Has a topic sentence similar to main point 1 sentence from introductory paragraph which proves or supports the thesis. The support mentioned below is in the form of examples, anecdotes, statistics, or facts –Support

8 Body paragraph 2 Has a topic sentence similar to main point 2 sentence from introductory paragraph which supports or proves the thesis. The support mentioned below is in the form of examples, anecdotes, statistics, or facts –Support

9 Body Paragraph 3 Has a topic sentence similar to main point 3 sentence from introductory paragraph which supports or proves the thesis. The support mentioned below is in the form of examples, anecdotes, statistics, or facts –Support

10 Concluding Paragraph Thesis restatement –Rewording the thesis from the intro paragraph. Sum up your main points (Mention again those same three points from the intro that you elaborated on in each body paragraph) Clincher –Opposite of “hook” – sums up your essay -- ends the essay
