How do I set up and install my Wireless Extender
1: Plug the DAP-1520 into a wall outlet within wireless range of your router. 2: Open the wireless utility on your computer, select the name (SSID) of the DAP-1520 network, and enter the password (both of these are found on the included Wi-Fi Configuration Card).

11: The setup process is now complete. A summary page will appear showing the settings for both the connection to the uplink router, and the extended Wi-Fi network. It is recommended that you make a record of this information for future reference. Click Save. A green check mark between the Uplink Router and DAP-1520 icons indicates that there is a successful connection between the uplink router and DAP-1520.

How do I Change the Administrator Password on Wi-Fi Extender
1: Open a web browser and enter in the address bar. 2: Enter your Admin Password in the field provided. If you have not changed the password from the default setting, the password field is to be left blank. Click Log In.

3: Move the cursor to Management at the top right-hand corner of the screen, then click Admin from the drop-down menu. 4: To change the Administrator password, enter a new password in the Admin Password field. If you wish to enable CAPTCHA graphical authentication, click on the slider to adjust the setting. CAPTCHA uses a challenge-response test in order to prevent unauthorized access using automated means. 5: Click Save to save the current configuration

How Do I Reset my Wi-Fi Extender to Factory Default Settings
Example: If you forget the password for you Wi-Fi Extender’s configuration interface, you can do a factory reset to return the settings to the factory defaults. Note: Performing a factory reset will erase all current settings, and this action cannot be undone. Method 1: With the unit on, use a paperclip to press and hold the reset button (located in a hole on the side of the unit) for 10 seconds. The LED will turn red to indicate that the unit is rebooting. Wait about 30 seconds to access the extender. The default IP address is or htpp://

Method 2: From the main page of the configuration interface, move the cursor to Management at the top right-hand corner of the screen, then click System from the drop-down menu. Click the Restore Factory Defaults button. A warning notification will appear to confirm the factory reset. Click OK to continue. Note: After factory default settings, there is no password to access the configuration interface. Leave the Password field blank.

How do I Upgrade the Firmware on my Wi-Fi Extender
Note: Before beginning this procedure, ensure that the DAP-1520 is connected to an uplink router with an active Internet connection. 1: Open a web browser and enter in the address bar. 2: Enter your Admin Password in the field provided. If you have not changed the password from the default setting, the password field is to be left blank. Click Log In.

3: Move the cursor to Management at the top right-hand corner of the screen, then click Upgrade from the drop-down menu 4: Automatic Upgrade - Under Firmware Information, click Check for New Firmware. The device will check for new firmware versions. If a new firmware version is found, the details of the new firmware will be displayed. Click Upgrade Firmware to commence the upgrade process. Manual Upgrade – Download the firmware file from your local D-Link technical support site. Under Upgrade Manually, click on the Select File button and locate the .bin firmware file you downloaded. Highlight the file by clicking on it once and then click Open. The name of the file will be displayed next to the Select File button.

Depending on your browser, the file may be automatically saved to your ‘Downloads’ folder, or a ‘Save File’ or similar dialog box will appear, asking you where you wish to save the file.

A confirmation dialogue will appear, click OK to commence the loading of the configuration. Note: If you have upgraded or downgraded the firmware on your Wi-Fi Extender, do not load configuration files that were saved using a previous firmware version. The load will not be successful, and can damage the unit.
