2 DEMOPOLIS LINDEN Demopolis is located at the confluence of the Tombigbee and Black Warrior Rivers, just 212 miles north of the Port of Mobile. Demopolis also lies at the intersection of Hwy 80, a major east-west corridor, and Hwy 43 which runs north to south.

3 Demopolis is famous for its white chalk bluffs along the river. The French Vine & Olive Company was drawn to the area because of the bluffs, but the soil was not suited to grow grapes and olives.

4 Gaineswood Bluff Hall Lyon Hall Demopolis has three antebellum house museums. Bluff Hall and Lyon are thought to be the inspiration for Lionet in Lillian Hellman’s The Little Foxes. Gaineswood is one of the nation’s best examples of Greek Revival architecture.

5 The Demopolis City School System includes 4 campuses with a total enrollment of about 1500 students. The Demopolis Tigers were Division 4 State Champions in football last year.
