7. Lab: Abiotic vs biotic Observation 1. Observe around you quietly. Use your different senses : touch, hearing, vision,…. 2. It is OK to touch the trees or shrubs, but don’t pick leaves or flowers! 3. Write 10 biotic things on your T-chart. Things like grass, tree etc. 4. Write 10 abiotic things on your T-chart Things like rock, brick etc. Abiotic without life. Example a rock. Biotic with life. Example a mouse.

10. Extra credit Activity:do another nature observation in your neighborhood 1. How many different shades of green did you see? 2. Look closely at the leaves of the plants. Find one with dull leaves, one with shiny leaves, soft leaves etc. How many different leaf textures were you able to observe? 3. How many of the plants are flowering now? 4. How many of the plants have seeds on them? 5. How many leaves are already turning Fall colors? 6. Did you see any dead plants? What might have killed them? 7. Does the ground look wet or dry? 8. Do any of the plants seem unhealthy?
