1 – DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT ACTIVITY 4 IONAS project extension In June 2005 the Municipality of Venice asked AICCRE to develop a specific training course on new structural funds for the IONAS Project partners, as activity for the project extension. AICCRE is an association of Local Authorities, with experience in training courses on EU funded projects. Since 1999 it has trained some 1.500 people coming from all Italian Regions to get and to manage European funding opportunities. Its seat in Veneto is San Servolo Island, Venice. AICCRE developed the proposal that has become part of IONAS project.

The current period of Structural Funds programs and instruments will come to its end in December 2006 and the Commission, the Member States and the regions are preparing for the new programming period between 2007 and 2013. The new programme is a n important opportunity and challenge that cannot be missed!
