2 About Us We are funded by Employment Ontario and operated by Durham College, we offer free employment services including:  Job Postings/Job Fairs/Office-Training Space  Career and Employment Counseling  Workshops on cover letters, resume development, interviews, etc.  Job matching & placement incentives (reimbursement $5- $8/Hr. for 8-12 weeks)  Summer Jobs Service for students –including employer incentives ($2/Hr. for 8-12 weeks)  Access to computers, Internet, fax/photocopier, telephone and employment related books and resources

3 Canada-Ontario Job Grant- What is it?  Canada-Ontario Job Grant (COJG) provides financial support to employers who wish to train their workforce.  It can provide up to $10,000 in government support per person for training costs per year.  Requires employers to contribute one-third of the total costs. There will be additional flexibility for small businesses to provide an in- kind contribution towards their share of the costs.  Requires training to be delivered by an eligible, third-party trainer.

4 Who can access the Grant?  Available to small- large businesses who wish to have their staff trained  The training needs to be short-term and can used for both current or incoming staff.  Short term= less than a year in duration  Any sector can access the grant. Some examples include  Retail, Construction, Trades, Manufacturing & Healthcare

5 How does the Grant work?  Employers complete an online application found on the MTCU website  Ontario.ca/employ eetraining  Employers pick the Service Provider they wish to work with  Application is submitted to that Service provider  Service Provider reviews the application and ensures it has been completed properly  Things we look for are dates, financial, legitimacy of trainer

6 How does the Grant work?  Service provider obtains employers proof of Commercial Insurance and WSIB. (Alternate Safety Insurance is acceptable)  Once the Service Provider receives the insurance and the application has been reviewed and all is correct-your application will be approved in the MTCU system  A Training Agreement and Participant Registration will need to also be completed before training can begin  The training will need to also be monitored so your Service Provider will make arrangements to do this

7 How does the Grant work?  Employer submits a paid receipt for the training and will then be reimbursed 2/3 of the total cost  Follow will happen for the both the Employer and the participants at various intervals such as 3-6-9 months.

8 Who is an eligible trainer?  College of Applied Arts & Technology  Publicly assisted Universities  School boards  Private trainers operating in compliance with the Private Career Colleges Act 2005  Product Vendors with manufacturer- recognized training certifications e.g.. Microsoft Software, Cisco Systems etc.  Union-based training centres

9 COJG Scenarios  Company A sending 10 employees for training at a fee of $3000 per person.  COJG contributes $2000 per person.  Employer covers $1000 per person.  Company B is sending 1 staff for training at a fee of $30,000.  COJG contributes $10,000  Employer contributes $20,000 *This is due to the limit of $10,000 max funding per person.

10 COJG Scenarios  Company C is sending 3 employees for training at a fee of $90 per person.  COJG contributes $60 per person.  Employer covers $30 per person.  Company D is sending 5 staff for training at a fee of $300 per person.  COJG contributes $200 per person  Employer contributes $100 per person

11 Training Examples  First Aid/CPR  Forklift/ACDZ Driver  Accounting/Payroll  Trade Specific- Electrical, Plumbing  Health & Safety  Management  Technical Training  Leadership Training  Human Resources  Food Handlers/Smart Serve  Customer Service/Sales
