3 Television and Movies! 1952- First movie to become 3D, Bwana Devil 1956- Scientists did a study on how many kids ages 10-16 watch TV. Average kid watched up to 6 hours of TV a day. Popular show for the teenagers was Bandstand with Dick Clark. Movies playing in the 1950’s-Father of the Bride, Cinderella, Asphalt Jungle, Singing in the Rain, The Quiet Man, Pillow Talk, and High Noon.

7 Barbie and Ken She bought 3, gave one to her daughter then took the others to Mattel toy company. Handler re-worked the look and gave the doll the name Barbie, after her daughter, Barbara. Ken was introduced in 1961 as Barbie’s fictional boyfriend. They met on the set of a TV commercial in 1961. First appeared in March 1959 Full name- Barbara Millicent Roberts Ruth Handler watched her daughter, Barbara play with paper dolls and she liked to give them adult roles. Her Husband, Elliot, co- founder of Mattel toy company wasn’t very impressed with her idea. When in Germany with her two kids, she came across a German toy doll called Bild Lilli. The McDonalds begin to franchise their restaurant Second Mickey D’s opens in Phoenix, Arizona; First to feature the Golden Arcs. Fourth restaurant opens in Downey, California; it’s the oldest McDonalds restaurant still operating. McDonalds worldwide sells its 100 th million hamburger The 100 th McDonalds opens in Fond du lac, Wisconsin.
