2 DO’S Make sure your most recent job experiences have enough detail Include keywords from the job description Ensure that your voicemail and your email address are employer-appropriate Use a format and font size that is clearly legible Organize duties and topics by bullet points within a position description Include volunteer experience DONT’S Leave off dates of employment or locations Cram the page with information Include tables, charts, pictures or graphic art State salary requirements Include personal hobbies that are not relevant Include objective statements that are broad or non-specific to the job at hand

3 Six Steps to a Better Online Resume Stay away from controversial topics that can lead to being categorized or judged unfairly Post updates that reflect interests and expertise that apply to your professional skills Proactively connect with companies via social networking sites Use proper grammar and show that you communicate effectively Clean up profiles to ensure that all photos are appropriate (and try to avoid using a “selfie” for your LinkedIn profile) Make sure that information is consistent and appropriate across all platforms (dates, locations, etc. If you have multiple resumes for different targets, make sure your main profile is cohesive with all!) Use keywords from your industry to describe your main skill set so that HR and Recruiters can find and identify your profile

4 Final Thoughts 92% of employers will recruit using social media platforms Recruiting departments will use LinkedIn 93% of the time, Twitter 54% of the time and Facebook 66% of the time Connecting with HR or the hiring manager after applying online will get you much farther than a passive application
