In 1800 there were 8 free and 8 slave states 1803- Ohio Free (9-8 Free) 1812- Louisiana- Slave (9-9 =) 1816- Indiana- Free (10-9 Free) 1817- Mississippi- Slave (10-10 =) 1818- Illinois- Free (11-10 Free) 1819- Alabama- Slave (11-11 =)

They ask to join country as slave state Why would this create a problem?? Arguments in congress South threatens to secede
